Mrs. Mumma of Dunnigan, Passes

Mrs. Josephine Mumma, wife of B. F. Mumma and member of a distinguished pioneer family of Yolo and Colusa Countries, passed away about 5:30 o’clock last evening at their home in Dunnigan, where she was widely known and loved by all. Members of the family are scattered about the West side of the valley and are particularly well known in the College City, Grimes, Arbuckle, Dunnigan and Woodland zones, where they have been successful farmers and enterprising citizens in their various communities.

Mrs. Mumma was the mother of Edith M. Blanchard, San Jose, Cal.; Bessie V. Jameson, Clarence M. Mumma, Dunnigan, Cal., and the deceased John J. Mumma; grandmother of Elsie Virginia Mumma and John Weldon Mumma.

The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon, Friday, March 3, at 2 o’clock, with all services at the grave in Woodland Cemetery. The body will be at the Krellenberg Chapel and may be viewed by friends and relatives of the bereaved family.

The deceased was born January 5, 1851 at Mt Morris, Ill. and was married as Josephine Coffman, February 15, 1877, to B. F. Mumma. The twain lived in Illinois for several years, coming direct to Yolo County, where they settled in Dunnigan and have resided for more than 30 years. Mrs. Mumma became a member of the Episcopal church of Woodland under the rectorship of Dr. Eolt some seventeen years ago, and although not an active church worker was a sincere Christian and devoted to church. She gave all her energy and strength to the rearing of a respected and honored family.
