MRS. GEO W. GELWIX DEAD

Services in Thayer Methodist Church Wednesday at 2:30

Thayer—Mrs. Laura Frances Gelwix, wife of George W. Gelwix, died at her home here at 7:30 o’clock this morning of an illness which began last April.

Funeral services will be held in the Thayer Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. They will be conducted by the pastor, the Rev. T. E. Johnson, and Dr. Maclean of Independence, superintendent of the Independence Methodist Conference District. Interment will be in the Thayer Cemetery.

Mrs. Gelwix was 67 years old August 29, last, having been born August 29, 1862 in Mount Morris, Ill. She was married to Mr. Gelwix December 17, 1885, and immediately afterward they came to Thayer, where they have been engaged in the mercantile business the past thirty-five years.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, D. E. Gelwix of Springfield, Mo., and J. M. Gelwix of the home address, and a sister Mrs. Urilla Cline (sic) of Manson, Iowa. She was the mother of three children, Homer, the other son, dying in 1896 at the age of 2 years.

Mrs. Gelwix had been active in the Methodist Church many years. She was also a member of the Thayer Reading Club, local literary organization.

Mrs. Gelwix had been bedfast since June, when an operation was performed in hope of giving her relief.
