LEVI BURD died Monday evening at home of daughter, Mrs. Jerry Nalley of Leaf River, Ill. Aged 79 years, 9 months and 14 days. Born in Perry County, Pa. In Oct. 1841 married Lydia Smith......
They moved west in 1867 and located on a farm in Winnebago Co., Ill. Four years later they moved to Tom Riley farm, northwest of Myrtle where they lived several years.
Very feeble several years and cared for by daughter, Mrs. Nalley. Children: Ephraim of Byron; William, deceased; Mrs. Nalley, Leaf River; Mrs. Kennedy of Rockford; Mrs. Kline of Byron; Levi of Chicago; Lemuel of Alamedo, Ca., and Frank of Kansas City, Mo. Lemuel was not at the funeral. Services at Mrs. Nalleys at 2:00 Wednesday by Rev. C.S. Clay. Then to Silver Creek Church where Elder Brubaker of Mt. Morris preached the funeral sermon. Internment in the adjoining cemetery. 44 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was the eldest son of William Burd of near Mansville; brother of Ex-County Commissioner George W. Burd, John S. Burd, Mrs. Geroge Bistline and Mrs. Bupp of Mannsville; Mrs. James McIlhenny of New Bloomfield and Reuben Burd of Neffsville, Lancaster Co.Submitted by Susan Burd Gillick
