Died at Sunnyside, Wash.
The Sunnyside Sun records the death of Levi Wallace, a brother of Lewis Wallace, of this place, as follows:
Our community has been called to part with one of its honored citizens. For some weeks the condition of our friend and brother, Levi Wallace, has been such as to leave his friends in a state of alternate hope and fear. At last tired nature has given way and on July 11, 1904, at the age of 55 years, 2 months and 2 days, he passed to his reward. The funeral service, held in the Federated Church Wednesday at 10:30 A.M., was very appropriate, Rev. S. J. Harrison preaching the sermon and M. D. Clark, the undertaker, being in charge of the casket. Brother Wallace was born near Mount Morris, Ill., May 4, 1849. On November 21, 1872, he was united in marriage to Laura Watermeyer. To them have been born two children, Josie J., and Clyde E. R. The devoted wife and Clyde survive the father, Josie having died in infancy. Brother Wallace and wife united with the Brethren Church 29 years ago. In this relation he was very active ans self-sacrificing. In all of these years he has missed only two communion services of his church. Three months after marriage he and his wife moved to Brown County Kansas. On March 7, 1902 they moved to Sunnyside. Here he met with the usual discouragements incident to the settlement of a new country. But he and his wife and son had in the short span of two years built up one of the most beautiful homes in the valley.
He will be missed by all who knew him. But our loss is his gain. He has exchanged his earthly home for one not made with hands. The sympathy of friends and neighbors is with the bereaved ones. The floral offerings were beautiful and appropriate music was rendered -- Sunnyside Sun
