Lewis Fransen for many years engaged in farming
in the German Valley and Forreston areas, died Thursday night
in the home of his son, John Fransen, 1152 W. Prentice St.
He was born in Holland Oct. 23, 1867, and came to the United
States at the age of 19, settling in Ogle County.
His marriage to Fannie Janssen took place Dec. 23, 1899. His
wife died Aug. 18, 1942.
Survivors include three sons, John of Freeport, Louis of Phoenix,
Ariz., and Hiram of Kent; three daughters, Mrs. Irvin (Grace)
Steinhagen of Freeport, Mrs. Frank (Gertrude) Donahue and Mrs.
Clem (Frances) Bauer both of Leaf River; a brother and two sisters
in Holland; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A
son, three brothers and a grandson died previously.
Service will be in the Burke - Tubbs Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Sunday
with the Rev. LaRoy Huntley, pastor of Trinity United Evangelical
Church officiating. Interment will be in White Oak Cemetery,
Forreston. Friends may call at the funeral home.
