Sudden Summons To Mrs. Blanche Strong
Death came to Blanche Fearer Strong at her home on North Fourth Street Tuesday evening at 8:30 following a short illness. Mrs. Strong was born in Pine Creek Township, Ogle County, June 8, 1861, the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. T. J. Fearer. She united with the Mount Zion United Brethren Church when young, and later transferred her membership to the Methodist Church in Oregon. Her entire life was spent in Oregon and vicinity with the exception of a short time in Colorado, after her marriage to Frank Strong in October 1904. The following year her husband died and she came to the old home community to reside.
She was educated in the district schools near her home and took one year of work in Mount Morris College, but was obliged to discontinue her studies there on account of ill health.
During the long illness of her sister, Mrs. Jennie Trueblood, Mrs. Strong devotedly cared for her over a period of eleven years, her death occurring on January 6 of this year, and on March 20 following, death came suddenly to her brother William P. Fearer. Mrs. Strong is the last member of the immediate family, and is survived by a stepson, Fred Strong, and a number of nieces and nephews, Rhoda Green (e), Prophetstown; Ruth Roe, Dixon; Lulu Bray, Beatrice Neb.; Mary Emery, Lincoln, Neb.; Jennie Pyle, Seattle, Wash.; Gerald W. Fearer, Oregon and Clarence Miller, Los Angeles, Calif. Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at 2:30 from the late home in charge of Rev. George B. Draper, pastor of the Oregon M.E. Church and burial will be made in Riverview Cemetery. (? Gravestone in Mt. Zion Cemetery)
Mrs. Strongs illness was of but short duration, she being stricken last Saturday, and her passing brings sorrow to a large number of close friends of a lifetime.Contributed by Jane Edson
