Luther David Potter civil war veteran, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Effie P. Davis, 513 South Second Street at 3:30 o'clock Sunday morning, January 14, 1933, aged 96 years, after a short illness, following poor health for sometime. Mr Potter, the son of James and Rebecca Potter, was born at Hagerstown, Md. January 15, 1848. He was married to Urilla A. Stonebraker at Mt. Morris, Ill. November 5, 1872 and to this union were born seven children. His wife and one son Merle J. Potter, five brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Mr Potter, who was a member of the Phil Kearney Post No. 40 of the G.A.R. Was a private in Company I, 140th Illinois Infantry. He is survived by two sons, Cloyd R. Potter of Ontario, Ore., and Harlan L. Potter of Oskaloosa, and four daughters, Mrs. Effie L. Davis and Mrs Henry Husson of Oskaloosa, Mrs. John D. Wells of Antioch, Can. and Mrs. Meeda P. Hunt of Muskogee, Okla. Funeral services will be held at the Powers Funeral home at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon with the Harry L. Anderson Post No. 34 of the American Legion in charge. Burial will be in Forest cemetery. A request for no flowers has been made by the family.
