Mahlon P. Livingston
Services for Mahlon Parker Livingston, 1006 Ridge Avenue, who died Tuesday night at St. Anthony Hospital, will be held at 2 pm Thursday at the Presbyterian Church in Winnebago. The Rev H. N. Brockway will officiate. Interment will take place in Burritt Cemetery.
Taken seriously ill 4 weeks ago, Mr. Livingston had submitted to an operation at St Anthony Hospital Sept 10. He died at 8:45 pm Tuesday.
Mr. Livingston was born near Polo on Jan 9, 1865, the son of Gearge and Virginia Livingston. He was married to Aetna Eikley on May 8, 1890. The couple had seven children, Walter and Younger of Rockford, Mrs. Edythe Weerda of Winnebago, and Mrs. Rena Patterson of Detroit, Mich. Lela, Donald and Mrs. Arthur Wolfe of Sterling preceded him in death. Mrs. Aetna Livingston died in Burritt township Nov 25, 1905.
On May 16, 1907, he was married to Mrs. Jessie Palmer, of which marriage two sons, Merwyn and Willis, were born. They and Mrs. Livingston survive.
Also surviving are three brothers, Charles and George of Sterling and Alex of Polo; a sister Mrs. Howard Franklin of Sterling; twelve grand children, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Livingston came to Burritt Township in 1903, where he engaged in farming for 16 years. Owing to ill health he retired and moved to Winnebago in 1919. He engaged in live stock shipping for several years and also served terms on the school board and the village council. He served as a township justice of the peace for 3 years.
The family moved to Rockford in December 1933.
