PASSING OF A DEVOTED MOTHER
_________

Death, Saturday Night, May 26, of Mrs. Margaret Koontz Lindsay. At the venerable age of almost 81.
_____________

The death of Mrs Margaret E. Lindsay, long a resident of this locality, occurred Saturday night, May 26th at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. C.V. Mattison in this city. Mrs. Lindsay had been in feeble health throughout the past winter, occasioned by the encroachments of her advanced age, nearly eighty one years, and during recent weeks her condition had assumed an acute stage to which she gradually succumbed.

Margaret E. Koontz was born near Cumberland, Maryland, September 11, 1842 and came with her parents and family to Silver Creek, near Adeline, when she was about ten years old. The remainder of her long and useful life was passed in that locality, where, January 2, 1865, occurred her marriage to Thomas H. Lindsay, to which union there were born eleven children, seven of whom survive to mourn the passing of a devoted mother. They are, Rev. S.J. Lindsay, Lewis Lindsay of Oregon, Oliver of Algona, Iowa, Charles of German Valley, William of Kewanee and Mrs. Simon Jacobs and Mrs. Daniel Icely of Leaf River, all of whom were present at the obsequles held Tuesday afternoon at the Church of God at Adeline, the funeral service being conducted by Elder Finn Murra, assisted by Elder Frank Siple.

Mrs. Lindsay was a true woman in every bearing of the term, devoted to her family and walking in the light of the word of God. She was for many years a loyal and active member of the Church of God. About twelve years ago, she sustained the loss of her husband, since which she has made her home with her several children.
