Martha W. Newcomer, daughter of Emanuel and Isabelle Newcomer, was born May 2, 1858, in Pine Creek Township and passed away July 18, 1936, at her home in Mount Morris, at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 16 days. Her entire life with the exception of fourteen years in Springfield, MO., and one year in Kansas, was spent in Ogle County.
She was married December 25, 1878, to John E. Miller. No children were born to this union. In 1909 they adopted a child. Her husband preceded her in death on March 17, 1925. She is survived by one adopted daughter, Mrs. John Jacobs, Mount Morris, one brother, P. B. Newcomer of Battle Creek, Mich., four grandchildren, six nieces and one nephew as well as many other relatives and friends.
Early in their married life the Millers united with the Christian Church and were found faithful in its work to the close of their lives.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 at the home and at 2 p.m. at the Christian Church. The Rev. N. A. Bolinger officiated and burial was at Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Morris, Illinois
Out of town relatives attending the funeral were P. B. Newcomer, brother, of Battle Creek, Mich.; a nephew, J. E. Kerns and wife, and their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Elzie Kingdon, Rockford, Illinois.
