Mrs. Garber died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. David Fridley, Sunday night and was buried Tuesday, the funeral being held at West Branch. She had been an invalid for several months.Mt. Morris Index, August 27, 1896
Mrs. Mary Long Garber died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. David Fridley, two miles southeast of Mt. Morris, Sunday, August 23rd. Mrs. Garber was born in Washington County, Maryland in 1820 and spent her childhood days at the home of her birth. She came to Illinois in 1842 and three years later was married to Samuel Garber. In 1868 they moved with their family to Iowa where Mr. Garber died twenty years ago.
She returned to Illinois a few years later. Four of eight children survive their parents-two, Samuel Garber and Mrs. Mary Brubaker reside near Los Angeles, California, the remaining two are Mrs. John Lutz of this place and Mrs. David Fridley at whose home she died. When twenty years of age she united with the Brethren Church and remained a faithful member throughout life.
