Mrs. William Healy passed away at her home on 7th Street Wednesday morning, June 20, following a gradual decline in health.
Mary McDermott Healy was born in Dutchess County, New York, April 14 1851. At the age of nine years she came to Illinois with her parents, the Mr. and Mrs. Timothy McDermott, to a farm near Steward where her girlhood days were spent.November 24, 1876, she was united in marriage with William Healy. Mr. Healy passed away February 20, 1914.
Mrs. Healy was the mother of ten children, six of whom survive, who are as follows: Frank, Mrs. R.E. Stevens and Charles of Rochelle; Win, Mrs. Dee Wheeler and Carlton of Chicago. Two daughters died in infancy; William J. Healy, Dec. 22, 1918 and John M. September 6, 1919. Three sisters, Mrs. J.P. Yetter of Steward, Mrs. Ellen Gage and Mrs. Kate Barber and one brother, T.P. McDermott of Chicago, also surviving are seven grandchildren, William and John Healy of Freeport; Mary, Catherine and John Carlton Healy of Chicago; Robert Stevens and Louise Healy of Rochelle.Mrs. Healy needs no eulogy - her life was a benediction to all those with whom she came in contact - loving service to her family, kindness, loyalty and sweetness to her friends.
The funeral will take place from St. Patrick's Church Friday morning with burial in the south side cemetery.
