Three Prominent Women are Called During Past Week
Mrs. James Fisher, Mrs. Mary Stonebraker and Mrs. Caroline Hoffman Summoned

Mrs. Mary Stonebraker, a lifelong resident of this community, died Monday afternoon at her apartment at 204 North Wesley Avenue following a heart attack suffered late Sunday night. Although her health had been frail for a period of several years due to a paralytic stroke, she was able to be about her home and occasionally visited the business district to do the family shopping.

A member of a large pioneer family, Mrs. Stonebraker held the respect and admiration of a wide circle of friends, and for a period of more than 55 years her hospitable home a mile north of town was maintained with a grace that was traditional of that neighborhood. A gentle, Christian woman, her life was wrapped up in her husband and children, and she toiled unceasingly to provide every comfort for them.

The daughter of Andrew and Marian Slifer, she was born March 19, 1871, in Mount Morris, and at death was 75 years, five months and 12 days of age. Her marriage to Frank Stonebraker of Mount Morris occurred in February, 1889 in Rockford and they immediately thereafter went to housekeeping in the homestead in which she was destined to reside for over half a century.

Mr. Stonebraker died Feb. 21, 1945 and several months later the wife moved to Mount Morris with her youngest sons, Frank and Lester. Also surviving are sons Hale and Ray, both of Mount Morris and two daughters, Mrs. Charles Bennett, Chana and Mrs. Ethel Rothlind, Seattle, Wash., as well as a number of grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services were conducted yesterday afternoon at the Methodist Church in charge of Rev. Ridell Kelsey, and burial was made in the family lot in Oakwood Cemetery.
