Ogle County Reporter, August 10, 1898
Mrs. Nancy Boyce was born in the state of Vermont, November 6, 1844. She came with her parents to Ogle County, Illinois, in 1852. Was united in marriage with Hiram Boyce March 3, 1867. Three children were born to them, the two older being 13 and 12 years of age respectively, both dying the same year. Seven years ago Mrs. Boyce came with her husband to Oregon to reside. For several weeks she was in poor health, her disease not yielding to medical treatment. She died August 2, 1898, aged 53 years, 8 months and 28 days. Twenty-five years ago she was converted and united with the Baptist church, and died trusting in her Saviour. The funeral services were held in the M.E. church on Thursday, August 4th, Rev. R.B. Nye preaching the discourse. The W.R.C., of which Mrs. Boyce was a member, attended the funeral in a body and took part in the services by going through their beautiful and impressive ritual. The floral offerings were beautiful, especially the floral pillow given by the W.R.C. The remains were taken to Rockvale for burial. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to Comrade Boyce in his affliction.
