Died--At Grand Junction, Iowa, Jan. 27th, 1886, after a brief illness, caused by old age, Mrs. Nancy Burch, of Byron, at the advanced age of 78 years and 8 months.

The deceased was born in Trenton, Oneida County, New York, May 27th, 1807. She was married to John Ames, of that place, April 20th, 1826. Soon after their marriage they removed to the town of Clay, Onandaga County, where they resided until they emigrated to Illinois and settled in Byron in 1846. For several years Mr. Ames was proprietor and owner of the Byron Hotel and was residing in the hotel when he died, July 4th, 1867. In the year 1872, deceased was again married to William Burch who died in 1881. She was the mother of nine children by her first husband, seven of whom are now living; three sons and four daughters.

The body arrived here Saturday morning. The funeral was largely attended, at the Congregational Church last Sunday. The service was conducted by Rev. J. Gibson, the text being from Job. 7:6.
