Forreston Herald: October 4, 1873:
On last Monday afternoon the remains of Miss Nettie V. Wagner, daughter of Rueben Wagner, arrived in town over the C. & I. road, from Evanston, and in the evening were taken to her home in Polo. She was attending school in Evanston when she was attacked by typhoid fever, from which she died on last Sunday evening. Her remains were met at Polo by a large number of citizens and the entire public school of Polo, from which she had but recently graduated, and a deep feeling of sorrow pervaded the whole community over the sudden death of one of their most promising and respected young ladies. Her age was eighteen years.
