'Grandma Jackson,' Byron School Teacher, Dies at 86

Rockford, Ill. Sept. 6 [Special] -
Mrs. Olive Shurtleff Jackson, 81 years old, of Byron, former Winnebago county rural school teacher, died this morning at Rockford hospital. She was known to a wide circle of friends in Ogle and Winnebago counties as "Grandma Jackson". Fond of exercise she had walked three miles from her farm home to Byron and back almost daily for several years.
