MRS. SAMUEL C. KRETSINGER
__________Phoebe A. Alden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Israel Alden was born May 13, 1850, in Byron township, Ogle County, Illinois.
After only a few days illness, she peacefully passed away at her farm home near Lake Benton, MN on Dec. 23, 1924.
A very large cortege of relatives, friends and neighbors followed from the home to the Methodist Episcopal church, where the funeral services were held Friday, December 26th. In-terment was made in the Lake Benton cemetery with Rev. Geo. H. Harvey officiating. The floral tributes were many and very beautiful, expressing the high esteem and loving thoughts of this devout mother and Christian woman and neighbor.
Miss Alden moved with her parents to Leaf River township in the latter part of the 50's. In the spring of 1866 she was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal church and has lived a very devout and consistent life.
On October 20, 1868, she married Samuel C. Kretsinger, and to this union ten children were born all of whom with the devoted husband and a brother, Fredrick Israel Alden of Sheffield, Iowa, 17 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and hosts of friends remain to mourn her loss.
In 1892, Mr. and Mrs. Kretsinger moved to their present farm home where the home fires were ever burn-ing bright and their latch string was always out, and many are the hearts they have cheered and lifted up by their kindness and hospitality, which is often attested by the love and esteem of legions of friends and neighbors.
Mrs. Kretsinger's great desire and prayer was that she might bring her boys and girls up to be noble men and women and ever acknowledged God's goodness.Return to Ogle Co. Genealogy Site
