Seeking descendants of Bryant WADE in Ogle County, possibly in the Rochelle area. Bryant WADE arrived in Ogle County in 1838, from Ontario, Canada. He came with his wife, Nancy KITCHEN and possibly a son, Edwin or William E., a married daughter, Emeline WADE GRIFFIN, with her husband Jacob GRIFFIN, and possibly other family. One report says that Bryant died the following year, 1839. If so I am trying to learn what became of the rest of the WADES. Edwin or William E. WADE shows up as an adult in Rochelle, Ogle County. He married twice. First to Anna Eliza AUSTIN in 1850 in a service conducted by Jacob GRIFFIN and with consent of his mother, Nancy WADE. He had two daughters, Mary M. who married Henry FORD, and Effie, who married L. GLEASON. Edwin subsequently married Mary A. BECHTEL and they had a son, Bryant E. WADE b: 24 September 1862. I am descended from the GRIFFIN line and have pretty good records, but I would like to know more about the other WADE descendants. Thanks for any help!

I am researching the building of the Chicago and Iowa Railroad ca. 1870 through Ogle County at Rochelle, Oregon, Mt. Morris and Forreston. Some of the line was built as the Ogle and Carroll County Railroad although that was basically a constuction arm of the C&I and never ran any trains of its own. The C&I survived until about 1904 when it was merged into the Chicago, Burlinton and Quincy. This is more a history project than a genealogical effort, although several of my ancestors (Surnames: GALE and MIX) were actively involved. Any contributions of relevant names, leads, ideas, photos, stories, family legends, etc... welcome and appreciated!

William H. Fouke's wife was Mahala Chapline from the same hometown - Shepherdstown, VA (now WV) Mahala presumedly had other Chaplines "South of Mt. Basically, I (and others) are attempting to track down as much as we can on the lives of the Fouke families who left Shepherdstown and travelled to Mt. Morris as did so many other families!

My wife's grandfather was born in Mt. Morris in 1856 (Hughlett Fouke). Do the churches ther keep their records of births or christenings? I know that births - back that long ago - are not in Court house.I would be willing to share what I have learned with others as would my partner, Darrin Fouke of Riverton, IL Dick Matteson College Park MD
