Died--At the residence of Mrs. P. A. Thomas, Saturday, Nov. 21, Robert Temple, of cancer of the liver.

The deceased was born in Chester Co., Pa., Aug. 1, 1839 and came to Byron in 1879 and has lived here ever since. He has been ailing with disease for the past twelve years but only for the past five months has he been down with it. It was a severe case of cancer of the liver. He was tapped thirty-five times and dropsical fluid was taken from him. At first it amounted to fourteen quarts and later to about six. His suffering was intense but he bore it bravely. He enlisted in the Army in 1861 and re-enlisted in 1864. He belonged to the G.A.R. Post and Sons of Temperance. Rev. J. B. Thomas preached the funeral sermon from the test: "Set thine house in order, for thou shalt die, and not live," which Mr. T. selected himself. His remains were interred in Byron Cemetery.
