Christan Doneson, a Swede, en route from Chicago to Sweden, was found hanging in the woods near Bernhard’s Bay, New York
Born, to Mr. & Mrs. Edward McGinnis a little girl last Saturday morning.

The infant son of Mr. & Mrs. Charles Preston died Monday December 20th.
Dead—
Ira Allen one of our old and respected citizens died at 11:50 am yesterday. Mr. Allen had been a resident of Rochelle for over 18 years, and was widely known and universally honored. He was born at Ottawa 52 years ago and had been sick over a year. Mr. Allen was an old soldier serving three years in the 4th Illinois Calvary. He leaves a wife and six children, besides a host of friends to mourn his loss. The funeral occurred this morning from the Catholic Church.
Arthur French and Carrie Powell of Polo were married in Dixon last week.
Frank Atwood was killed at Davis Junction last week, by stepping off the rear end of a steam shovel onto the main track just as a passenger train was approaching. He leaves a wife and family.
Mrs. J. D. Cowell of Forreston is suffering from a sprained knee and other injuries caused from falling down her back stairs.
Miles R. Jewett of Fairdale, Ill and Millie L Bigalow of Davis Junction were married at the later place last week. Both young people are well and favorably known. They will make their future home in Fairdale.
George Youngs of Stillman Valley one of the oldest and best known settlers of this section of the state, died Friday morning at the home of his daughter in Minneapolis. The cause of his death is thought to have been paralysis as he suffered a severe stroke some time ago. Mr. Youngs came to Ogle County from Ohio about 60 years ago being considerably over 70 years of age at the time of his death. He accumulated much property in he vicinity of Stillman Valley, but met with severe financial reserves. At one time he was connected with the C. M & St. P. Road. He leaves a family of three daughters, one residing in Stillman Valley, one in California and Jennie, who is unmarried, in Minneapolis. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon in Stillman Valley.
Flagg Center Wedding
A large number of the young people of Flagg Center are coming to the conclusion that it is not well for a man (or woman) to be alone, and are joining the ranks of the married. Three weddings occurred there last week. Miss Dollie Grimes and Mr. Little were joined in the bonds of wedlock Wednesday. Mr. Warren Biggers has also taken unto himself a wife, the happy young lady being Miss Alfria Airhart. Miss Emma Fowler, a young lady whose home is at the Center, but whom Rochelle is pleased to number among its estimable young ladies will be married to Clark Meyers on next Wednesday. Let the good work proceed.
Mr. Wm. Schermorehorn and Miss Jennie Parlmer of Lynville were married at the home of the brides’ parents’ yesterday evening. We wish them happiness and prosperity.
Coming Nuptials
It is announced that Marshall Cramer and Miss Alice Miller two highly respected young people of Rochelle will be married in the near future.
Ole Burkland and Tillie Olsen were married in Chicago last Monday

Andrew Johnson, a well known young man of Rochelle, will be married to Miss Lina Olsen an esteemable young lady of Lee this afternoon. The ceremony will take place at the Norway Lutheran Church near Steward. We join in the well wishes of numerous friends.

Marshall Cramer and Miss Alice Miller of this city will be married at the home of the bride January 1st.
HAS 6 GRANDMOTHERS
Little Walter Stuben whose funeral was held at 3 o'clock this afternoon was a remarkable child in many respects. Although at the time of his death, he was not 6 months old, he possessed 2 teeth which had been cut at week’s age. Unlike other children, he represented the 5th generation and claimed 6 living grandmothers and great grandmothers. Three of whom were present at the funeral.
Mrs. Benjamin Stuben of this place and rs Flora J Raymone of Cortland are his grandpmothers, Mrs. Saylors of Rochelle his great grandmother; Mrs. Wickiser of Ohio who is over ninety years old and Mrs. Patrick of New York state are his great great grandmothers, and Mrs. Elza Hoag on New York his step great great grandmother. The marriage of Miss Emma Fowler and Clark Myers occurred at the home of the bride's mother December 28.

Wedded
About 60 relatives and friends were present at the happy wedding of Miss Alice Miller to Marshal Kramer, at the home of the bride’s parents Saturday evening. Rev. Otjen performed the ceremony after which all indulged in a dance and joyful time in general. Serveal guests were present from other cities.
A Girl
Edward Allaben is settin' 'em up this week. It's a nine pound girl, looks just like its papa. The visitor appeared at the Allaben home Monday afternoon. All concerned are doing well. Ed will pull through all right

Zackriah Rummel and Miss Alice Cross two well known and highly respected young people of Pine Rock were married on Wednesday last week. We join in the hearty congratulations.
Kings
Born to Mr. and Mrs. Walter King January 1st a daughter
Death, Dan Slaughter died at his home near Flagg Center at 7 o'clock this morning. He had been sick for some time, but was convalescing, but took cold which resulted in his death. Mr. Slaughter had reached the age of about 70 years but still his death came unexpected and was a sad blow to all. A more complete account will appear next week.

At Rest
All that is mortal of Uncle Daniel Slaughter lies at rest in the Flagg Center Cemetery. The funeral taking place from the house at 1:30 PM Sunday. Rev Otjen conducted the last sad rites and paid a touching tribute to the memory of the departed. Although the weather was very inclement a large concourse of relatives and friends followed the remains to the final resting place. Mr Slaughter had been sick for quite a while but was considered convalescing and his death was a crushing blow to the entire community. He has resided in these parts since 1856 and endeared himself to a large circle of friends.
Daniel M Slaughter was born in Coshoeton, Ohio August 27, 1827, In 1851 he was united in marriage to Miss Hannah Parks. Nine children being born to them.
The widow, together with seven children live to mourn the loss of a loving father and tender husband. The children who survive him are Mrs. W E Prentice, Jackson Tenn.; John F., Terrace, Col.; Dana; William, Akron, O; Mrs R C Tipple, Rockford, Ill; Vida M and Stella M who reside at home. The Independent joins in the heartfelt sympathy extended to the sorrowing family in their hour of bereavement.
Albertus Tice and Miss Emma Newcomer were married on December 30. both are prominent young people of Pine Creek
Died
Mr. and Mrs. Harry A Hall suffered the loss of a girl baby born them Saturday night. The little one passed away Monday and was buried Tuesday afternoon.
Death of Mrs. White
Mrs. E R White of this city died last night after a long illness from a complication of diseases. She was widely known and respected in this section. Funeral will take place from the home Saturday at 2 o'clock
Michael Hayes is rejoicing over the arrival of a baby boy at their house
Mr. and Mrs. Ora Hall of Flagg Center are rejoicing over the arrival of a son.
