Samuel Kendel Died Suddenly Last Friday: Leaf River, Oct. 20

Samuel Kendel, an old resident of Leaf River and a pioneer settler of Ogle County died very suddenly last Friday at his home while sitting in a chair. Mr. Kendel was in his usual good health and up to about a week before he died and the day before his death he was up town when he complained some with a pain about his heart.

Mr. Kendel was about 75 years of age and moved to this village about six months ago from Mt. Morris Township. He is survived by a wife and seven children, who have the sympathy of the community in their bereavement. Mrs. John Rice of Mt. Morris is a sister of the deceased and Joseph Kendel, residing north of town, is a brother. Funeral services were held Sunday at M. E. Church conducted by Rev. Pittman of the Christian Church. The remains were laid to rest in the West Grove Cemetery.
