Mrs. Sarah Barry Dies

Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Barry, who died Saturday evening, September 26, 1936, at her home west of Byron following a heart attack, were held Tuesday from the home at 9 a.m. and from St. Mary's Catholic church in Byron at 9:30 a.m., Father Walsh of Dixon, officiating. Burial was in Byron cemetery.

Mrs. Barry was born November 13, 1854 in Byron township and was the daughter of William and Mary Gorman. She was married to Thomas Leary who died in 1880. To them were born two children. In 1888 she was married to George P. Barry and came to the farm home to live there 48 years. Mr. Barry passed away three months ago.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Harry Thompson, at home and Mrs. Earl Wilmarth, Oregon; two sons, William Barry, Byron and Mose Leary, Creston, Iowa; eight grandchildren; a niece, Mrs. Carrie Sullivan, Rockford, and three nephews, Tom Gorman, Rockford, John Gorman, living in Michigan.

Mrs. Barry was devoted to her home and delighted in hospitality and kindly ministrations to her family. She and Mr. Barry cared for the niece and nephews, whose father and mother passed away when they were small children. In her friends she found great enjoyment. Her many acts of kindness will be long be remembered by relatives and a large circle of friends.

The funeral was largely attended. Some from a distance were, besides the niece and nephews; George Curran, Belvidere, Mrs. David Johnston and daughter, and Mill Nell White, Ft. Dodge, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Dannewitz, Somonauk, Mrs. Mary Hultquist, Bensonville, Mrs. Julia Myers, Rockford, Mrs. Affa Beitel, Shabbona and Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Ryan, Pecatonica
