Beloved Mother Called From Life Monday

The death of Mrs. Robert Mammen, esteemed resident of this community for many years, occurred at the home on South Fourth Street, in this city, Monday morning, about eleven o’clock. Mrs. Mammen had been in failing health for some time due to her advanced age. Her maiden name was Stella Stomberg and she was born in Ostfriesland, Germany, January 3, 1856. Her marriage to Gearhart Mammenga occurred in 1880 and they came to America in 1890, locating in Oregon, where in 1898, Mr. Mammenga died. In 1900, she married Robert Mammen, who with her five sons survive to mourn the passing of a devoted wife and mother. The sons are Enno, Frank and Claus F. Mammenga, residing in Oregon; Fred residing in Kings and M. G. Mammenga at Grundy Center, Iowa; also tow sisters of the deceased, Mrs. Andrew Stork of Dyke, Iowa and Mrs. Abraham of Wolf Point, Montana; also fifteen grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon, from the home at twelve o’clock and at one-thirty from the German Reformed Church east of Oregon, of which church the deceased was for many years a member. Interment in the cemetery adjacent to the church. Mrs. Mammen was an estimable women, a devoted wife and mother, and a considerate friend and neighbor, beloved by many whom her passing bereaves.
