Mrs. John D. Moore, and aged and highly respected resident of Oregon died at her home on last Wednesday, April 24, following an extended illness. The deceased, who's maiden name was Susan Ann Hill was born at Hagerstown, Maryland, May 15, 1862 and when she was 2 years of age the family moved to Illinois and settled in Rockvale Township, Ogle County, where she resided until she had reached young adulthood.
On March 10, 1881 she was united in marriage to John D. Moore, and to this union were born seven children, five of whom, Maude M., East Moline,
Samuel J., Rock Island, Chas. E., Mrs. Shirley Young, and Mrs. Hazel Coy of Oregon, survive. Eighteen grandchildren and six great -grandchildren also survive. Her husband and two sons preceded her in death.
Grandma Moore, as she was affectionately known by her many friends and neighbours possessed a happy disposition and was always ready and willing to aid in time of trouble and distress. Hers was a long and useful life.
Funeral services were held from the Oregon Presbyterian Church in charge of the pastor, Rev. Richard E. Chandler last Friday afternoon and burial was made in Riverview Cemetery.Return to Ogle Co. Genealogy Site
