DEATH OF ESTIMABLE WOMAN
Passing December 24, of Mrs. Viola Kelly
For Nearly Seventy Years a Resident of This Locality
Mrs. Viola Kelly passed away Dec. 24th, 1920 at 12:30 p.m., at age of 72 years, 6 months and 12 days after an illness of four weeks, at the home of her son, John D. Kelly, in city of Oregon.
Viola Stevens was born June 1848, in Delaware Co., Ohio, and came to Illinois with her parents, Elnate and Maryette Stevens, at the age of five years, since which time the family home has been made in this vicinity. She was united in marriage to O. Wilson, January 2, 1866. Two children were born of this union, Charles O. and Mable I.
Dec. 25, 1882, she was united in marriage to Michael Kelly and of the union two children were born, John and Minnie V. Mrs. Kelly is survived by her children, Charles O., Wilson, John D. Kelly, Minnie V. Marsh, stepson, William E. Kelly, her sister, Miss Maryette Stevens and brother Geo. O. Stevens, of So. Dakota.
The funeral service was conducted Monday afternoon, Dec. 27th, from residence by Rev. W.F.Poat, pastor of the Lutheran church, with which Mrs. Kelly had been identified for many years. Burial was made in lower cemetery.
Among those in attendance at the funeral from a distance were Wm. Kelly, Mrs. N.C. Burroughs, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schmidt, or Rockford, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Coon, Rochelle, Mrs. Marsh and Mrs. Frank ? and son, of Dixon. The funeral also attended by members of the Order of Rebekahs, Royal Neighbors Woman's Relief Corps, with which the deceased was affiliated during her time.
