Death of William McDermott

William McDermott, a well known, public-spirited citizen of DeKalb for many years, did at his home in DeKalb on Thursday evening. He was born in Ploughkeepsie (sic), N.Y., in 1858. When he was a young man he became a resident of Rochelle, Ill. where he was married in 1892 to Miss Riley. Immediately after thier marriage they removed to DeKalb where they had since resided.
Mr. McDermott was a member of the Elks club, Kishwaukee Country Club and St. Mary's Catholic Church. He leaves surviving the widow and one daughter, Miss Gertrude McDermott; his brother T.F. McDermott, of Chicago, formerly of DeKalb, and four sisters, Mrs. Will Haley of Rochelle, Mrs. Gage of Chicago and Mrs. Frank Barber of Malta. Two other brothers, James and John, preceded him in death.
The funeral was held Saturday Afternoon at 2o'clock from his late home, 317 East Lincoln Highway and the remains were deposited in Fairview Mausoleum.
(Note: He was later buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Rochelle.)
